Light and Up

I've published a new and free pattern on Ravelry, Light and Up. I love simple designs and I love eyelets and my new shawl is a combination of both. It's very easy to knit and requires less than one skein of fingering weight yarn. The yellow shawl is knit in a linen yarn from Ullcentrum and is a perfect summer shawl. The blue shawl is knit in gorgeous Malabrigo Sock. The size is generous thanks to the bigger needles (5 mm) and the shawl is very light and airy. I love it and think it's very wearable. And I'm happy that many fellow knitters on Ravelry also like it! I'm also happy and proud that Malabrigo Yarn linked to my pattern on their website.

  3. I am about to start the last repeat of the eyelets. This is my first lace shawl, and I am so glad I picked your pattern. It has been a joy for me to knit. I haven't been able to do much else during my spare time. Thank you for offering such a beautiful yet simple design!!!

  7. Having trouble getting started. I'm not sure what you have in mind by turning the piece 90 degrees. Thanks!

  8. I am finishing up on the "Light and Up" shaw. It is a lovely design. But......
HELP, I'm having difficulty understanding the instructions for the bind off.
    k2, k2tog tbl
How is this binding off, I see it is decreasing but how does it binding off?

  9. I just love the Light and Up shawl. I just finished my 2nd one and I'm sure I'll be making more. They make wonderful gifts. For those having difficulty with the bind off, I suggest watching a YouTube video on how to do it. I simplify it by using a crochet hook in place of the right hand needle. It makes it go much faster.

  10. Hi Caroline, I received the light it up shawl kit as a Christmas gift. It's beautiful and easy to knit thank you for the design. I've knitted up to 204 stitches on the needle in stockinette and it darned on me that I may have incorrectly knitted the increases on the purl side. The pattern just said continue 2 increases on the WS and 4 increase on the RS, are the WS (purl side) increases made purl wise? I did mine knit wise. Thank you, Della

  12. Hi Caroline, Love the pattern Light and Up, which I downloaded some time ago and printed, then deleted the pattern. Now that I'm knitting it I find that part of it didn't print. Beginning lace pattern, Row 2 did not print except for "next marker, M1r, sm, k2" Please send me Row 2 of the lace pattern so that I can continue this lovely pattern. Many thanks. 13. Hi Caroline. I'm doing your Lighter and Up modification and I think there are 2 mistakes in the pattern. If you begin the lace pattern at 151 stitches, you are ending on a wrong side row, which would throw off the lace pattern starting on a wrong side row. And if you do the yarn over row as row four, you won't have an even number of stitches with which to do the "YO,, k2tog until the next marker. Since row 4 has an odd number of stitches, you will have one st left. But, it will work with doing this on row 2 of the lace pattern as it will provide you with an even number of sts. Can you let me know if this is an error in the pattern or an error with the knitter?
